FPPC Rejects Complaint About Encinitas Action

In the interest of transparency, we’re sharing that the Fair Political Practices Commission’s Enforcement Division reviewed a sworn complaint from Cardiff resident Julie Thunder. In her complaint, she accused Encinitas Action of being a PAC (Political Action Committee) that wasn’t complying with state laws regulating PACs. Thunder has repeatedly made this false claim in public forums.

In her complaint, Thunder stated that Encinitas Action is a PAC that failed to include proper disclosures in emails, social media and events; employed deceptive email practices; and made improper payments for services.

After reviewing Thunder’s complaint, the FPPC responded that it “will not pursue an enforcement action” in this matter, as stated in its response below:

Encinitas Action will continue our efforts to encourage community engagement and government transparency.
